From the 18th to 22nd January, Madrid will host a new edition of Fitur, an event in which the city of Girona will have a promotional and institutional presence.

Madrid hosts a new edition of the International Tourism Fair (Fitur), the most important tourism fair in Spain and one of the most consolidated in the world.

Girona City Council is present in Fitur within the stand of the Costa Brava Tourist Board of Girona, and under the brand of Tourism of Catalonia (Catalan Tourism Agency), to promote the different touristic attractions of the destination, as well as inform about the whole offer present in the city from cultural, gastronomy, active tourism, business and shopping.

On the other hand, it will be used to advertise the novelties offered in the city of Girona, such as the recent certification of Girona Destination of Sports Tourism, guided tours related to Game of Thrones, opening of the first urban spa in the city, the new accessible itineraries and the inauguration of the Sea Otter Europe Costa Brava Girona that will take place in Girona next June.

Regarding the business tourism, Girona will also be present t the annual assembly of the Association of Palaces of Congress of Spain (APCE) which coincides with Fitur.

The Councilor for Economic Promotion, Local Development and Tourism, Gloria Plana assists Fitur with an agenda including various events and meetings. Her presence will serve to sign the annual agreement with Renfe, which establishes the terms of collaboration to offer discounts on travel in AVE to all congressmen coming from anywhere in Spain and attending an event in Girona. The meeting with Renfe will also benefit new common tourist projects that are being worked on.

On the other hand, different meetings have been held with companies and professionals from the tourism sector present in this fair.

Gloria Plana points out "she wanted to take advantage of her presence in Fitur to establish contacts to develop new projects in the short and medium terms, in accordance with the strategic lines prioritized in the area of Economic Promotion, Local Development and tourism, especially in terms of responsible tourism, sustainable and accessible tourism, sports tourism and the creation of new tourism products.
