Evidential Legal Reasoning World Congress

The Legal Culture Chair of the Girona University organizes the First World Congress on Probative Reasoning that will take place in the Congresses Palace of Girona on June 6th, 7th and 8th .

The Legal Culture Chair of the Girona University (UdG) with the Juridical editorial Marcial Pons, Organise, on the occasion of the 100th Law and Philosophy publication, the Mundial Congress of Probative Reasoning.

The international event which will take place in the Congress Palace of Girona from June 6th to 8th, bring together specialists of 4 continents who will address the probative reasoning problems in the judicial process

The event will gather around 350 people (between academics, advocates, judges, fiscals, etc.) coming from 30 different countries who will contrast and debate points of view of different traditions and legal cultures, with the objective of improve laws on evidence in the process and also the own judicial practices. Because of this, the official languages of the congress are Spanish and English with a simultaneous translation services to other languages.

According to the professor Jordi Ferrer, director of the Legal Culture Chair, the congress has to serve for “ understand the problems which rises the evidence in the judicial process, get proposals for the legislative improvement and have tools for to control more reliable the rationality of the judicial decisions about the facts”.

The congress also will be the stage of the International Association of Evidence Science and Theory creation, that sets out as a mundial association in probative and that will have its foundation in Girona. In this way, the congress will be a tool for the consolidation of Girona and the Legal Culture Chair of the Girona University as a international juridical referent. A sample of this is that the result of a search with the name of the congress in Catalan, Spanish and English sum more than 4000 results in Google.

At the opening ceremony of the World Congress on Probative Reasoning has intervened for the rector of the UdG Quim Salvi, the 6th lieutenant of Girona City Hall Carles Ribas, representative for European programs in the council of Girona M. Angels Planas, the dean of the law school Albert Ruda and the director of the legal culture chair, Jordi ferrer.
